Annapolis River Floods

This picture, sent in by Dick Morse, shows a flooded Bridge Street. One can see the bridge at a distance. Probably the Forties or Fifties. Anyone remember ?

  2. The year of the Flood is 1956.We lived on Bridge Street at one time. Though little more than a baby at the time, I do recall that old Iron Girder Bridge. There were two Bridges on "Bridge Street" at that time. The Iron Girder Bridge spanned the Annapolis and the 2nd smaller "road Level" Bridge crossed the Nictaux. The Annapolis was rerouted sometime after the "flooding" and the two 'separate river courses' became the one Annapolis River course separating Middelton & Nictaux. I have a couple of Aerial Photos that show the old bridges and the River Courses from back-in-the-day. The New Bridge replaced the old 2nd road Level Bridge, which is what we have today. The houses showing in your old low resolution photograph, still stand today (*2018) The center 2-Storey in the pic (*41 Bridge Street/2018) was owned by an old friend of mothers, both gone now.
